Katya Ostor is licensed clinical social worker at Mahler Psychology PC, specializing in the use of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Positive Psychology and other evidence-based treatments to assist children, adolescents and adults navigate a myriad of mental health difficulties. She provides short and long term therapy for individuals and families. Before attending graduate school, Katya received her Bachelor’s Degree from Brown University in Public Health and worked in behavioral research at the Addiction Center and Center for Behavioral and Preventative Medicine at Brown University. While pursuing her master’s degree in Social Work at Boston College, Katya interned at the Butler Hospital Adolescent Unit and the Providence Center Therapeutic School in Providence, RI. 

Since completing her master’s degree, Katya has treated patients of all ages in varied settings including outpatient, inpatient and schools. She joined New York Presbyterian Hospital as a Clinical Social Worker and held several roles in the hospital over the course of ten years.  Most recently Katya returned to school counseling, enjoying meaningful connections with students and their families. 

Katya has experience treating mood and anxiety disorders with special attention to life transitions, family and relationship problems. She is also well versed in navigating race relations and identity formation. She combines a passionate attitude with keen psychological knowledge to promote wellbeing and growth. She enjoys educating the community about mental health, fostering acceptance and understanding while advocating for awareness and policy change.  Katya loves helping her clients achieve their personal goals and thrive. Katya lives in Harrison with her family.
